The Association
General Overview of the Association
In September 1949 a small group of 63rd Infantry Division
veterans met and formed the 63rd Infantry Division
Association. The purpose of the association was and still is to
perpetuate the memory of our fallen comrades, to preserve
the Esprit de Corps of the division and to assist in promoting
an everlasting peace.
The Association by-laws provided for publication of a
periodical for the purpose of collecting and disseminating
information of interest to its members. That publication is
currently distributed three (3) times each year and is known as
the "Blood and Fire".
The Association by-laws also provided for the collection,
preservation and exhibition of historical documents, books,
paintings, war materials and other objects of interest to the
association members. In 1984 the association by-laws were
changed to add a "Historian".
An annual meeting of members, the appointment and election
of officers and the appoointment of a "Secretary/Treasurer"
were also provided for. The first annual meeting, or reunion
as we now refer to it, was held in New York City in June
1950. Reunions have been held every year since.
