e-mail from Randall H. Vick(24 Dec 99)

My dad was a 1st Lt. Co E. 255th Infantry. He landed in France 12-14-44 and moved to the extreme NE corner of France where his unit crossed the Rhine. He later was assigned to 1st Platoon, Co E. and led his company across a mine field into Germany at 0100 3-15-45. His unit then moved into the Siegfried Line on 3-17-45. that afternoon his unit suffered 71 killed and wounded. My brothers and I would like any and all information regarding movements and locations of his unit and names of anyone he may have served with. My name is Randall H. Vick and I was born 3-18-45, the day my dad was wounded. My address is 4333 Carolina St. Grand Prairie, Tx 75052, Phone 972-263-6545. I would greatly appreciate any information you can provide. Thank you and God Bless. (Note: We show Capt Ross W. Vick Sr as serving in E,F & K Companies, 255th Infantry Regiment and being wounded once in Jan and again in March 1945. Mr Vick has been advised how to get specific printed matter relating to the 255th. Subsequent messages from Mr. Vick indicated that he and his brothers were going to join the 63rd Inf Div Assn, attend the next reunion and donate to the 255th Regimental Flag Fund)

Whilst looking at the WW2 Honor Roll, I came across the details of Staff Sgt Vincent J Collins, as follows:

Vincent J. Collins, Staff Sergeant US Army, 32955988, 253rd Infantry Regiment, 63rd Infantry Division, Entered service from New Jersey, Died March 5 1945, Buried American Cemetery Epinal France.
As this brave man shared my name I would dearly love to know more about him and his life and death. If anyone can help please mail me at : Vincent James Collins, 40 The Leys, Long Buckby, Northants NN6 7YD, England.
