Issue Number 15                                      OCT  2001
All information in this Newsletter is developed by Fred Clinton, Webmaster, 63rd Infantry Division Association and does not necessarily
reflect the views of other individuals and is in no way an Official Publication of the 63rd Infantry Division Association.
11 September, then the Annual 63rd
Infantry Division Association Reunion,
followed by this crazy thing with the antrax.
Oh to be back in the simply time of World
War II.  At least we knew where the enemy
was, could identify them and were capturing
real estate.  I only wish I could look into the
future to see what our world and country
will be like in 10 or 20 years.  In the
meantime let me bring you up to date on
what's happening on the web site.

ANNUAL REUNION:

The annual reunion at Virginia Beach was
great but somewhat subduded because of
the 11 Sep tragedy.  I think there were only
about 350 participants and the weather
didn't quite accommodate our schedule, so
the outings were quite cold.  I guess our old
bones, just done respond as well to chilly
weather as they did in the winter of
1944/45.

At the general meeting there was some
discussion about the progress being made
on the next reunion to be held in
Branson,Missouri 13-18 August 2002.
Details will appear on the Reunion Page as
soon as I get a copy of the planned
activities.

Also at the general meeting the members
approved the reunion site for 2003.  It will
be in Columbus, Ohio during the period of
19-24 August 2003.  The exact dates to be
announced.

NEW WEB SITE SERVER AND
FORMAT

Well  inflation is catching up with me on the
cost of maintaining this web site.  My
current server has advised me that as of the
end of my current contract, Feb 02 I think,
my monthly cost will almost double.  So
with this in mind I have scouted around and
found another server that will provide
almost the same services with a little more
memory space for about half of what I am
now paying.

For the past month I have been consolidating
a number of linked sites into one site which
can now be accessed by going to the
following
address:
http://www.63rdinfdiv.com/index.html

The new site contains the same information
but in a little bit different format with some
added features.  I ask that you check it out
and let me know if you have any problems
with it or have any suggestions for
improvement.

The old site
http://www.63rdinfdivassn.com
is still active and will be until my contract
runs out or the server management agrees
to let me continue at the current rate.
PHOTO SECTIONS OF THE WEB
SITE
:

I am still seeking photos of 63rd Infantry
Division veterans to place in the Web Site
photo sections.  Photos of training at Camp
Van Dorn, on Board Ship to Europe, during
Combat or during the Occupation are all
welcomed.  All I need is the photo and a
caption..  We are gathering a rather large
album of photos.  If you have the time why
not use it to visit the Photo sections of the
Web Site.  Click titles below to go there:

BLOOD AND FIRE NEWSPAPERS
ON CD

Again a reminder--We have completed the
project of putting all available copies of The
Blood and Fire Newspapers on a single
CD.  These issues were published between
15 Jun 1943 and 25 Aug 1945.  All
together there are 98 different issues.  We
have also provided the Acrobat Reader 5
program on each CD so that they can be
read and printed.

With the CD you can print copies on a
regular printer and surprisingly the print is
quite legible. Of course if you have a printer
that accommodates larger paper you can
print up to 11X 17, the orginal size of most
of the newspapers.

Click here to review a page from one of the
issues contained on the CD.

Cost of the CD's is $10 including shipping.
Unfortunately they will not work on
Apple/Mac systems unless you have a
conversion program.  If you want to
purchase a CD you can send your Check
for $10 to me-
Fred Clinton 102 South
Jenkins Street, Alexandria, VA 22304 or to

Bill Scott,
Association Historian, 407 S.
Walnut Street, Sycamore, IL, 60178.

Division History Fund.

CEREMONY FOR INSTALLATION
OF DIVISION FLAG AT
HOLOCAUST MUSEUM

The Special Events Office of the Holocaust
Museum in Washington D C has advised
me that there will not be a ceremony to
install the 63rd Infantry Division Flag in their
Hall of Honor.

As you may recall it was thought originally
that such a ceremony would take place.
However, boths the Museum and the
Military District of Washington feel that
since no other division was so honor with a
special ceremony that it would establish a
precedence resulting in the other 20 or so
divisions wanting a similar ceremony.

In that I know that our flag is displayed at
the Holocaust Museum as its turn comes
around, that is enough for me.
