Issue Number 16 NOV 2001
All information in this Newsletter is developed by Fred Clinton, Webmaster, 63rd Infantry Division and does not necessarily reflect the
views of other individuals and is in no way an Official Publication of the 63rd Infantry Division or 63rd Infantry Division Association.
Will there be no end to the terrible things
that have been happening to our nation? I
have to be optimistic and say yes- there
will. If we all pull together and work
towards peace in the world and for a better
country I am confident that we will prevail
and the world will be a better place.
NOVEMBER NEWSLETTER
This newsletter will be relatively short for
two reasons- 1- I am about to depart for a
few weeks and am scrambling to get things
ready and 2- It appears that something less
than 20 individuals reviewed the last
Newsletter so I guess most all of us are
devoting more time to keeping up with what
is going on in the current news.
Additionally I will not publish a Newsletter
in December. So I won't be back in touch
with you until after the New Year.
MEMORABILIA ITEMS
A number of new memorabilia items have been
added to those already for sale by the
Association Historian. They can be seen at the
following address:
http://www.63rdinfdiv.com/memorabiliapage5.html
Why not take a look at all of the pins,
patches and publications available from the
Historian and maybe you will find that
special something for yourself or a member
of your family
THE BLOOD AND FIRE
PUBLICATION
For those of you who are members of the
63rd Infantry Division Association and who
receive the Blood and Fire, the
Association's periodic publication, please
take the time to read the excellent letter
from our President, Martin Beer.
Martin has done a great job of preparing all
of us for the 54th National Reunion in
Branson, MO to be held from 13 August to
18 August 2002.
If you will attend only one reunion in 2002,
make it to Branson. It looks like we will
have a great time.
PHOTOS
I want to thank all who have sent in photos
to be included in the Photo Sections of the
web site.. Keep them coming.
ONCE ENEMIES, NOW FRIENDS
This is the title of a book recently authored
by a 63rd Infantry Division Veteran along
with his friend and neighbor who was in the
German Army pitted against the Allies in
Operation Northwind.
Charles Miles I Company, 253rd Infantry
Regiment and Felix Pfaeffle formerly of the
German Army decided to write "Once
Enemies, Now Friends" when they met by
chance only to discover that they lived only a
block from each other in a small New
Mexico town.
The book has been completed and is now
available from the Red Sky Publishing
Company, Las Cruces, NM and retails for
$15. You can find out more about the book's
availability by contacting Keith Whelpley at
505-382-0408 or by e-mail:
redsky@zianet.com
I am planning on reading this book and will
report to you about its content when I next
visit
THE 63RD INFANTRY DIVISION
ASSOCIATION WEB SITE
As you recall I mentioned in my last
newsletter that I was thinking about
discontinuing the 63rd Infantry Division
Association web site due to increase
servicing costs.
I have now made the decision. When the
current contact is over that web site will be
shut down.
In the meantime I have transferred all data to
a new 63rd Infantry Division web site and it is
now completed. You can find the new web
site at the following address:
http://www.63rdinfdiv.com/index.html
I hope you will find it as informative as the
original. There are a few new features such
as unit insignia beside each Mail Call and
Buddy Search item. Also check out the
new locater on the index page. Just enter a
subject or name in the space provided, click
"Search" and you will get a list of pages
within the web site that contain that subject
or name.
For example: Type in the name of our Blood
and Fire Editor, Al Conti and you will get a
list of 5 or 6 pages where his name appears.
Click on the page you want to go to and
Voila!! you are there.
I pray for your safety and happiness throughout the holiday season.
