Well I made it to and from the Banson
Reunion after four (4) days of driving (two
there and two back). I have really got to
stop carrying so much stuff with me to those
Reunions so I can use the airlines instead of
driving.
It was great as usual to see my old buddies
and meet some new members and reunion
first-timers. If you haven't been to one of
our reunions please make plans to be with
us next year in Columbus Ohio. I will
publish details once they are received.
I don't have a lot to report about in this
letter since most of my month has been
spent goofing off, but I will cover a few
items that I think you will be interested in.
Reunions:
As stated above the next reunion will be
held in Columbus Ohio in August 2003.
Details will be posted as soon as received.
Also the Reunion for 2004 will be held in
Washington DC. Plans currently call for a
Memorial Service to be conducted at the
new WWII Memorial on the Mall, that is if
it is completed by then.
New entries:
Don't forget to check out new entries in the
Mail Call, Buddy Search ,Bulletin Board
and Photo Sections. There won't be too
many right now, but I should start making
entires in these sections within a few days,
particularly in the Photo Sections.
CD's and Hat Pins:
The new CD's mentioned in my last
newsletter and the new line of hat pins and
bolo ties sold like hotcakes at the reunion.
The good news is that there are still some
left for those looking for these items., Go to
the Memorabilia Pages for details.
New History CD's underway:
I am currently in the process of preparing a
CD for the 263rd Engineer Combat
Battalion History. I have a good written
history as well as daily journal entries, but
photos and personal experience stories
from our Engineer veterans are in short
supply.. So if you are one of them or a
relative of a 263rd Veteran who has
passed away and you have photos of him
while in the 63rd or any personal accounts
of their combat, training or occupation
exploits please get them to me so I can
include them on the 263rd Engineer
Combat Battalion History CD.
As usual I will return all items sent after
they have been scanned and recorded, that
is if you want them returned. Otherwise
they go into the history files.
After the 263d Engineer CD I plan to
complete one for the Division Artillery , the
Medical Battalion and last but not least the
Special Troops units.
Photos and Memorabilia Images:
The reunion produce a bonanza of new
photos , personal experience accounts and
memorabilia images. I am currently
processing over 300 new items to be
entered on the Web Site. As previously
stated all of these new items will also
appear on the Chronicle CD and
appropriate unit history CD when revisions
are made in the coming year.
Be back with you in September. In the meantime keep those photos, memorabilia images and personal experience stories coming in.
