Issue Number 24                                   September 2002
All information in this Newsletter is developed by Fred Clinton, Webmaster, 63rd Infantry Division  and does not necessarily reflect the
views of other individuals and is in no way an Official Publication of the 63rd Infantry Division or 63rd Infantry Division Association.
As the 63rd Infantry Division Newsletter
enters its third year of publication I find that
the faster I go the behinder I get.

Not many new items this month, but I did
manage to accomplish a few things that will
add to our historical files.  I hope you will
enjoy the many new photos that now
appear on the site.

NEW OFFICERS FOR THE 63RD
INFANTRY DIVISION
ASSOCIATION

As is the custom, all new officers were
elected for the 63rd Infantry Division
Association at the Branson, MO reunion.
Also five (5) new members of the
Association Board of Directors were
elected to replace those whose terms of
service had expired.

You can view the names of these new
officers and directors by going to the
Association Page and clicking on
Association Officers.

263D ENGINEER COMBAT
BATTALION HISTORY CD:

As I mentioned in the last newsletter I was
in the process of completing the History CD
for the 263d Engineer Combat Battalion.
That process has been completed, although
I am still trying to get more photos to fill out
the various Photo Sections.  I was able to
come up with a few combat photographs
depicting the work done by the 263d
Engineers, but I have absolutely no photos
of the 263d in Occupation Duty or photos
that might be appropriate for the
Miscellaneous section (Training, on leave
etc).  I also have no Personal Experiences
written by veterans of the 263d Engineer
Combat Battalion to include on the CD.

So, if you are a 263d Engineer Combat
Battalion veteran or a family member of a
263d Engineer veteran, how about scouring
those files for photos and personal
experience stories to be included with the
history of the unit that supported the 63rd
Infantry Division combat units so gallantly
and well during WWII.

Send them to me either by e-mail or regular
mail.  My regular mailing address appears
on the Index Page of the web site

I will be sending the Master CD of the
History of the 263d Engineer Combat
Battalion to the Association Historian within
a few days.  I guess the price of this new
CD will be the same as for the Regimental
History CD's- $12 including shipping.  If
interested in purchasing this new History
CD please contact Bill Scott the
Association Historian at wjs631@attbi.com
NEW PHOTOGRAPHS APPEARING
ON THE WEB SITE:

Since I last contacted you I have entered
over 200 new photographs on the web site.
I am still amazed at some of the photos I
receive from time to time, particular the
combat photos.  Where did these cameras
come from and how were the films
developed?  I know that a few are official
Signal Corps photos, but others like some of
the ones I have of D/254th, were taken in the
middle of complete chaos.  How they
survived is a mystery to me.  They did
however, and I am always thankful to those
of you who are sharing with me and adding
to the historic files of the 63rd Infantry
Division.

To review the new photos go to the following
pages of the Photo Sections indicated.

Pictorial History of the 63rd Infantry
Division in Combat:

Pages 24 thru 30 (83 new photos)

The 63rd Infantry Division on
Occupation Duty:

Pages 14 thru 24 (108 new photos)

Miscellaneous Photos and Memorabilia
Images:

Pages 26 thru 31 (36 new photos)
PROJECTS ON THE BOARD IN
COMING MONTHS.:

Currently underway are projects to complete
History CDs for Division Artillery, the 363d
Medical Battalion and for the Division
Special Troops.

When completed the 363d Medical Battalion
History will be included on the CD now
containing the History of the 263d Engineer
Combat Battallion and will be entitled The
History of 63rd Infantry Division Support
Battalions.

Also on the planning board is the scanning
and placing on CD's of all photographs now
in the 63rd Infantry Division Historical
archives.  From what I am told by the
Association Historian this will be a
monumental task and should produce many
photos that haven't seen the light of day for
many years.  It should prove to be an
interesting task.  As usual all new photos will
be placed in the appropriate sections of the
website if deemed of historical interest.

I'll keep you informed of any progress made
on any of these projects.
See you again in October.  Keep an eye on the Reunion
Section.  I should have all the details for the 2003
reunion soon.-  Fred
