Issue Number 55 November 2014
All information in this Newsletter is developed by Fred Clinton, Webmaster, 63rd Infantry Division and does not necessarily reflect the
views of other individuals and is in no way an Official Publication of the 63rd Infantry Division or 63rd Infantry Division Association.
Well I didn't think that I would be
publishing another newsletter this year,
but I feel a need to let you know what is
going on with reference to the 63rd
Infantry Division Association.
As I start this newsletter I realize that a
few days ago, 25 November 1944, which
was the day after Thanksgiving in 1944
was the day that the three regiments of
the 63rd Infantry Division sailed from the
Port Of New York for destinations
unknown- unknown at least to those of
us in the lower ranks. That was seventy
(70) years ago. My how the time flies
when your are having fun.
NEW MEMORABILIA LIST
I have been advised that almost all of the
Memorabilia Items that were for sale by
the 63rd Infantry Division are no longer
available. I understand that the printed
matter and maps have all been donated
to the Camp Van Dorn Museum.
With that in mind I have prepared a new
memorabilia section on the web site with
a list of all of the items that are still
available. Important changes include
complete listing of items that appear on
each of the History CDs. This should
provide you with a better understanding
of the scope of information that is
available to you.
I have also included new sections
pertaining to the Military Challenge
Coins, CIB and CMB certificates and
Combat Business cards.
I have just reordered fifty (50) 63rd
Infantry Division Challenge Coins and
fifty (50) 254th Infantry Regiment
Challenge Coins.
As explained on the memorabilia pages I
did not order coins for other division
units because of the high cost of coin
dies. Dies for the 63d Inf Div and the
254th Inf Regt were purchased by me in
2004 and are still available for my use.
At that time those two dies cost around
$1100 for the pair.
LATEST INFORMATION ABOUT THE
63D INFANTRY DIVISION ASSOCIATION:
As previously reported, the Association is
in the process of permanently shutting
down. Exactly at what stage the process
is I am not certain, but here is what I do
know:
1. The Association has donated $5000 to
the National Army Museum being
constructed in the Fort Belvoir area of
Virginia.
2. A "last" Blood and Fire publication will
be issue sometime in the next couple of
months.
3. The 63d Infantry Division
Association-USAR located in California
has rejected a plan to accept the files of
the association and the surviving
members of the WWII 63d Infantry Division
Association.
4. The Historian of the 63d Infantry
Division Association is now Fred Clinton at
joyclint@comcast.net or 102 S. Jenkins
Street, Alexandria, VA 22304. Questions
relating to the history of the 63rd Infantry
Division WWII can be directed to Fred for
response. This will be the case even
when the Association has been put to rest.
5. The 63rd Infantry Division Web Site will
continue to be maintained by Fred until
further notice. So if you have items of
historical interest that you would like to
add to our historical files send them to
Fred for processing and publication on
the web site and adding to the various
history CDs.
Merry Christmas
and Happy
holidays to all.
