Well here we are, July 2001 already and
issue number 12 of the  Internet Newsletter.
Not a lot going on in July here in Washington
D C.  Tourists abound, heat is finally here
along with the humidity.  But all of that is
expected and part of living in this area.  I
guess the most significant thing happening this
month will occur on 27 July 2001.  I will
reach the ripe old age of 74.  No matter how
hard I try I just can't seem to catch up with
the ages of my wartime buddies.

SOME AREAS TO CHECK OUT ON
THE WEB SITE THIS MONTH.

PHOTOS AND MEMORABILIA
IMAGES FOR THE WEB SITE.

I have been receiving some great photos
lately to be added to the web site.  Keep
them coming and check out the new ones that
now appear on the site.
BLOOD AND FIRE NEWSPAPERS
FROM 1943, 1944 AND 1945.

The project to scan and place all of the
weekly  Blood and Fire Newspapers from
June 1943 until 29 August 1945 ,when the
last issue was published, is going well and
should be completed within the next week
or so.

Issues from 15 Jun 43 thru the end of June
1944 have been scanned and placed on
CD's.  When completed all issues available
will be on a single CD-  At least it looks
that way now.  The CD will also include
Acrobat Reader 5, a program necessary in
order to read the files.

This complete historical file will be printed
for review at the next reunion and will be
available for sale as soon as the project is
completed.  Currently it is expected that the
cost of the Blood and Fire Newspaper CD
will be $10 including shipment.

The quality of the files is excellent, however
in some cases, about 1%, some of the
edges of the papers are not legible because
of age, deterioration of the paper and
method of filing.  For the most part all print
and photos are quite legible and print out
very well.

Some of the issues are missing, but right
now it appears that we are missing only 4 or
5 .  We are still attempting to find copies of
these issues so that they can be included in
the final CD file.

Although it is nice that we can now leaf
through these old newspapers without fear
of destroying their fragile pages., the most
important thing is that we now have a way
of providing these historical files to a
number of museums and libraries.

PRAYERS FOR ONE OF OUR
BUDDIES.

Majorie Lieberman, wife of Irwin
Lieberman, L Company 255th Infantry,
advised me earlier this month that Irwin had
just undergone radiation treatment for Lung
Cancer and could use all of the support we
can muster.  So take some time out of your
busy life and let Irwin know that we are
praying for his recovery.  You can contact
him at the following e-mail address:
