Issue Number 2                                       September 2000
All information in this Newsletter is developed by Fred Clinton, Webmaster, 63rd Infantry Division Association and does not necessarily

News about The Army
Museum and how you can
help make it a reality.
Well, response to Issue Number 1 was to say
the least heartening (is that a word?).
Anyhow your comments were encouraging.

In this issue you will note some changes,
changes I hope for the better.  For openers I
have finally figured out how to prepare the
Newsletter and be able to put links on the
references I make in the letter.  It was so easy
that I am ashamed to tell you how I did it.
But do it I did and here are the results.  In
fact if you don't want to take the time to
download the attachment so that you can
print it for your file, you can go to :
 http:
www.63dinfdiv.com/newsletterformissue2.htm
l
and read it every day from the web page.
Since the web page Newsletter entries will
change each issue, you may want to print
them for your file and reference.

One of the problems I am trying to resolve is
the size font I should use.  What you are
reading now is a #12,  the small disclaimer
statement at the top is a #8 ,
this size print is a
#10
and this size a #14. So what I need
from you is your thoughts on which size is
better for you.  I'll try to average it out and
use that for the Newsletter font.

From time to time I would like to send
specific articles or information that I think
would be of interest to you.  It is not my
intention to flood you with propaganda about
things that I support nor will everything I send
be something that I agree with.  So please feel
free to respond to the information I send in
anyway you wish, it won't hurt my feelings.
Just remember if the article is about a military
issue facing veterans the contents are not
necessarily supported by me.  The purpose of
sending them would be merely to get you
thinking about the subject of the article.
On the other hand if the information is
something that I support strongly, I will let
you know than.

An example of something that I support
strongly will be this issue's article on The
Army Historical Foundation and The Army
Museum.

Here are some pages on the web site that
may interest you and that perhaps you have
not found them as yet:

Infantry Division who were Killed in Action,
who died of wounds or who were killed in
non-battle situations: (This Page loads really

The Army History Foundation
Here's something to think about!!!

Our Army is the only American military service
that does not have a national museum.  Since the
1700's American soldiers have served in hardship
and danger with distinction, courage and honor.
America's Army continues to serve our nation
around the world--yet nowhere is told the full
story of the dedicated service of the American
GI.  Discussions on a site for a National Army
Museum are currently underway. The purpose of
the museum is to honor the American soldier.
Tens of  thousands of invaluable artifacts from the
Revolutionary War to Bosnia, including Civil war
flags, items from WWI and WWII, the Korean
War and Vietnam wars now sit stored, waiting
for a museum.  Also waiting for a special place in
a national museum is the Army's superb collection
of over 13,000 pieces of historical art by
generations of American soldiers.

As you know, it is unrealistic to expect that the
Congress will provide full funding to the Army for
such an undertaking, although the Army will be
providing what it can.  The mission of the Army
Historical Foundation is to raise the funds to build
the museum--a truly monumental task in itself.
As former soldiers, or spouses and descendants,
other relatives or friends of former soldiers,, if
you would like to help in this project go to the
Army Historical Foundation web site by clicking
the AHF logo above.

Take the time to join the over 1400 other military
personnel who have banded together to keep
Army history alive.  JOIN THE ARMY
HISTORICAL FOUNDATION TODAY!!!
When  joining please mention that you are a
veteran, relative or friend of the 63rd Infantry
Division.

MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION HAS
BEEN ADDED TO THE WEB PAGE:

I have added a Membership Application to the web page that
allows individuals desiring to be members of the 63rd Infantry
Division Association to file their application by electronic means.
They still have to send in their check for dues, but the application
provides a ready and handy method for joining the association.  So
far we are off to a slow start, but I have received two (2)
applications for membership since it was included..  The
Membership Application can be seen at:
