Issue Number 26                                   December 2002
All information in this Newsletter is developed by Fred Clinton, Webmaster, 63rd Infantry Division  and does not necessarily reflect the
views of other individuals and is in no way an Official Publication of the 63rd Infantry Division or 63rd Infantry Division Association.
I know I said in my last newsletter that I
would be back in January 2003, but I just
couldn't let the holidays pass with out wishing
all of you Happy Holidays and my hope that
you will all enjoy good health and happiness in
the coming year.   HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Not much to report in this issue, but a couple
of things that you might be interested in, so
here goes.

ATTENTION 254TH INFANTRY
VETERANS-  AVAILABILITY OF A
CERTIFICATE FOR THE FRENCH
CROIX DE GUERRE.

In view of the deactivation of the American
Order of the French Croix de Guerre in the
near future I have ordered ten (10) Diplome
de Croix de Guerre  avec Palme with the
name : 254th Infantry Regiment entered in the
name section..  I have asked that the citations
appearing on these certificates be in English.

If you purchased these certificates from the
American Order of the French Croix de
Guerre the price would be $25 each.  I am
paying $20 each and will make them available
on a first come- first served basis at the price
of $25.  That will cover my expenses, plus
postage.  Anything left over I will send to the
63rd Infantry Division Treasury.

You can see an image of the certificate on
Newsletter # 8 although the image is not too
clear.  I am sure that you will be happy with
the final product.

If interested in purchasing one of the ten(10)
copies I have ordered please let me know as
soon as possible.  When I receive them I will
let you know and you can send your $25 at
that time.

FRENCH MEDALS FOR WORLD WAR II
VETERANS.

In my last newsletter, I mentioned several
Medals that have been authorized by the
French Government for members of the US
Forces that assisted in the liberation of France
during World War II,

After checking around for a source for these
medals I found that companies that did sell
them are no longer in business. But, all is not
lost.  The American Order of the French
Croix de Guerre has advised me that they will
be closing their doors in the Summer of 2003
due to the lack of members.  They are willing
to sell their supply of medals, the first three
listed in last month's newsletter, to anyone
without regard to membership in the
organization.

Their address is "American Order of the
French Croix de Guerre, Inc, 18 East 41st
Street, Suite 401, New York, NY 10017-6222.

So if you are interested in the three (3) medals
they have, it appears that there is still a little
time to order before they close  their doors

The fourth medal "French First Army
Commemorative Medal" is still only available
from the Rhin et Danube Association.  See the
Bulletin Board for details about joining that
organization and their mailing address.

A PICTORIAL HISTORY OF THE 63RD
INFANTRY DIVISION.

I have just completed placing 880 plus
photos in my files on a CD titled "A Pictorial
History of the 63rd Infantry Division."

If you have ever wondered what it was like
for the veterans of the 63rd Infantry
Division during their training, combat and
occupation duty you  will be able to get a
pretty good understanding by checking out
these pictures.  I have also included a Photo
section covering all of the 63rd Infantry
Division Memorials and one with a photo
tour of Camp Van Dorn, Mississippi.  Here's
the chance to see the luxurious quarters the
63rd Infantry Division troops enjoyed during
their training at Camp Van Dorn.

We are still looking for photos to add to our
collection so if you have them and want to
include them in the next revision of the
Pictorial History of the 63rd Infantry
Division, send your photos to me by e-mail
attachment along with a caption for each
photo submitted.  You can also mail them to
me, Fred Clinton 102 South Jenkins Street,
Alexandria, VA 22304.  I will scan them and
return them to you.

The price for this new CD is $12 and it can
be ordered from the 63rd Infantry Division
Historian, Bill Scott e-mail wjs631@attbi.com

The price includes postage and all funds
over the cost of the postage go to the 63rd
Infantry Division Association.  There are no
charges for materials or production of this
CD or any other CD purchased from the
Association Historian.
