Issue Number 25 November 2002
All information in this Newsletter is developed by Fred Clinton, Webmaster, 63rd Infantry Division and does not necessarily reflect the
views of other individuals and is in no way an Official Publication of the 63rd Infantry Division or 63rd Infantry Division Association.
Well it's been almost two (2) months since I
last visited with you and for that I apologize. I
was rather ill for almost all of the month of
October, but am now almost normal again,
whatever that is.
Not a whole lot has happened since I last wrote
the newsletter because of my illness, but I will
tell what has happened and things you should
look for on the Web Site.
NATIONAL REUNION:
Although still a little early for firming up your
plans for next year you should make sure you
mark your calendar for the National Reunion to
be held in Columbus, OH from 13-17 August
2003. Please go to the Reunion Page for details.
NEW ALPHABETICAL LISTING OF
INDIVIDUALS APPEARING IN
PHOTOGRAPHS ON THE WEB SITE:
I have just finished the first go around of
placing an alphabetical listing of all named
individuals appearing in photographs on the web
site. Go to that list, check out a name, click on
the name and you will go to the page on which
his or her photo appears. Where a person
appears in more than one photo on the same
page their name will only appear once for that
page. You can access this list from the Index
page or be going to Alphabetical Photo Index
Page 1
This is an ongoing project. In fact I have about
100 new names waiting to be added to the list.
I expect to get these done within the next few
days.

STILL LOOKING FOR PHOTOGRAPHS
OF 63RD INFANTRY DIVISION
VETERANS IN COMBAT, ON
OCCUPATION DUTY AND IN TRAINING.
You can help establish the historical record of
the 63rd Infantry Division by digging out all of
those old photographs of you or your relatives
when they were in the 63rd Infantry Division.
Once located send those photographs along
with captions to me either as attachments to an
e-mail or by regular mail. My Regular mail
address is Fred Clinton 102 South Jenkins
Street, Alexandria, VA 22304. All photos
mailed to me will be returned.
Once processed these photographs will become
a permanent part of this web site and will be
included in the historical files of the 63rd
Infantry Division. They will appear on the
History CD's of the appropriate unit and some
will appear on the 63rd Infantry Division
History CD. This is a great way for those
photos to be permanently recorded for history.
GOOD NEWS FOR FORMER POWS:
There have been dramatic changes in VA

out the details on this new benefit as well as

DID YOU KNOW THAT ALL VETERANS
OF THE 63RD INFANTRY DIVISION
WHO FOUGHT IN FRANCE ARE
AUTHORIZED SEVERAL MEDALS
ISSUED BY THE FRENCH
GOVERNMENT?
All veterans of the 63rd Infantry Division
who fought in France during World War II
are authorized the following commemorative
medals:
1. Medaille Commemorative de la Guerre
1939-1945 with "Liberation" barrette. There
is an application for this award which I hope
to have available within a few days. (Cost
$18)
2. Medaille France Libre( Medaille
Commemorative des Services Voluntaires
dans la France Libre)(Cost: $23)
3. Medaille de la France Liberee.(Cost
$21)
4. French First Army Commemorative
Medal. (This medal is authorized only for
those individuals who were attached to the
First French Army in the Colmar Area during
Jan-Feb 45- Basically the 254th Infantry
Regiment) (Cost- $30)_
All of these medals must be purchased and to
date I have only found one place for Medals
#1, #2 and #3 and that is the American Order
of The French Croix de Guerre.
Unfortunately you must be a member of that
association to make the purchase. Only the
254th Infantry veterans are eligible to join this
Association by virtue of their receipt of the
French Croix de Guerre for Colmar.
Medal #4 is only available from the
Rhin et Danube Association and again only to
members. Again only members of the 254th
Infantry Regiment are eligible to join that
association.
I am actively searching for other sources and
will keep you informed. I have also asked the
two associations mentioned above it they
would consider selling to other than
members. I will let you know the outcome of
that.
MEMORABILIA ITEMS AVAILABLE

Have you checked out the various
memorabilia items that are available from the
Historian, 63rd Infantry Division Association.
There are hat pins, patches, printed histories
of 63rd Infantry Division units and of course
the History CD's. All of these would make
great gifts for your veteran or for your
grandchildren and children. A good way to
preserve the history of your WWII service
and of the 63rd Infantry Division. So go to
the Memorabilia Pages of the web site and do
your holiday shopping early.
