Issue Number 28                               March 2003
All information in this Newsletter is developed by Fred Clinton, Webmaster, 63rd Infantry Division  and does not necessarily reflect the
views of other individuals and is in no way an Official Publication of the 63rd Infantry Division or 63rd Infantry Division Association.
Hello again.  After an absence of a month I
have returned to working on the web site and
preparing another newsletter, although my heart
isn't in it.  Here I sit at my computer typing
away while we are at war. A war that may
change the way we live from now on.  All I
can say about that for the time being is that I
am praying for the safety of our Servicemen
and Women and for the future of our country.
I hope you will do the same.

PHOTOGRAPHS:

As usual I am still seeking photographs of 63rd
Infantry Division veterans while they were in
the 63rd Infantry Division.  Shots of training,
combat or occupation duty are welcomed.
Even if you can't recall the names in the photos
they are welcomed.

I just finished entering 40 or more new photos
to the web site and to the various History CD's
that are availble for purchase from the 63rd
Infantry Division Historian.

The photographic historial files are growing
larger each day, but I know that some of you
are still stitting on those valued photographs.
Now would be a good time to make sure that
they are added to the historical files of the 63rd
Infantry Division..  All photos will be shown on
the web site, in the Pictorial History of the 63rd
Infantry Division in Combat CD and on the unit
History CDs.

Copies of these CD's are being furnished to
various museums and libraries at a snails pace.
Thus far CD's have been sent to the USAR
Museum at Fort McPherson Ga and the Library
of Congress Military History program.  Other
shipments will follow shortly.  So if you want
your photos to be available for researchers and
others who have an interest in WWII, send
them to me so that they can be processed.

Youi can mail them to me at the following
address:  Fred Clinton 102 South Jenkins
Street, Alexandria, VA 22304.  As soon as I
process them to be added to the web site I will
return them to you.  Please include a caption if
possible..

You can also send them to me as attachments
to e-mail.  Please use jpg format and no more
than 150 dpi in the file.
REUNION

Don't forget to make your plans to attend the
55th Reunion of the 63rd Infantry Division
Association to be held in Columbus, Ohio in
August.
Please go to the Reunion Page for
details.

NEW PROJECT:

As if I didn't have enough to do, I have begun
a project that will place all 63rd Infantry
Division Unit Morning Reports on CDs.  These
are the Morning Reports that the 63d Infantry
Division Association paid several thousands of
dollars to obtain from the Military Records
Center in St Louis, Mo over the past few years.

Thus far I have done only nine (9) months of
one rifle company as a test project and found
that it takes about one hour to scan and
process one month of Morning Reports for a
rifle company.  Based on that it shouldn't take
much more than 700 hours to process morning
reports for every company in the division for
the months of December 1944 through May
1945.

If I ever get through that project I will attack
the other months that the division was on
active duty in WWII.

Once completed it is expected that it will
require at least ten(10) separate CD's to record
the morning reports of all divisional units for
the period December 1944-May 1945.
