Issue Number 36 4th of July 2004
All information in this Newsletter is developed by Fred Clinton, Webmaster, 63rd Infantry Division and does not necessarily reflect the
views of other individuals and is in no way an Official Publication of the 63rd Infantry Division or 63rd Infantry Division Association.
Today is the 4th of July 2004- what better
time to send a message to honor all of the men
of the 63rd Infantry Division that did so much
during WWII and since to maintain the
freedoms established by our founding fathers.
Thanks to all of the men of the 63rd Infantry
Division and in particular those who made the
ultimate sacrifice and gave their lives so that
we and our families may live free.
I am going to use this Newsletter to let you
know that I am tapering off in my 63rd
Infantry Division activities. I have so many
other things going on in my life that I must
give a little more time to them and a little less
time to my WWII organization. So what this
amounts to is that I will only publish this
Newsletter at times that I think may require a
special notice pertaining to an upcoming event
or happening relating to Veterans or the 63rd
Infantry Division.
I will no longer actively solicit photographs
to be added to the historical files of the 63rd
Infantry Division. That doesn't mean I will
not processed any photos received, it only
means that I won't be bugging you for your
photos as I have in the past.
I will no longer actively solicit personal
experience memoirs for inclusion in the
historical files of the 63rd Infantry Division.
Again, any such writings received will be
processed and forwarded to the 63rd Infantry
Division Association Historian to be included in
the historical files of the 63rd Infantry Division
Personal inquiries will continue to be posted to
the Web Site as they are received.
After 31 July 2004 Combat Infantryman Badge
and Medical Badge certificates will no longer
be available nor will the Combat Business
Cards..
ASSOCIATION "RHIN et DANUBE"
INFORMATION:
As you recall, a few newsletters ago I
mentioned that the US Section of the Rhin et
Danube Association was considering
discontinuing its activities due to loss of
members. Here is the latest:
The US Section will phase out its
operations as of February 2005. This will
coincide with the phase out of the French
National Headquarters of the Rhin et Danube
Association.
The Association Flag will be given to the
Invalides Museum in Paris along with the
other Rhin et Danube Sections' flags.
Any funds remaining will be donated to
the City of Sigolsheim, France in Alsace to
maintain the US XXI Corps monument
situated on Hill 216 just outside of Sigolsheim.
There will be no reunion this year and
the final US Section Rhin Danube newsletter
will be published in February 2005.
