All information in this Newsletter is developed by Fred Clinton, Webmaster, 63rd Infantry Division and does not necessarily reflect the
views of other individuals and is in no way an Official Publication of the 63rd Infantry Division or 63rd Infantry Division Association.
Well now, that was fun. I just returned
from the 62d Annual Reunion of the 63rd
Infantry Division Association and am
happy to report that a good time was had
by all. Sure we didn't have the hundreds
that we did in earlier years, but those of
us that did attend had a really enjoyable
time, thanks to Ed Fowle, our President
and his family, especially Judith his
daughter.
This newsletter will report some of the
major happenings relating to the 63rd
Infantry Division Association.
National Reunion for 2011:
Because of the dwindling number of
Association members there was a problem
determining if , when and where the next
annual reunion would be held.
After much discussion it was decided that
at least one more reunion should be held
so that the Association could have the
63rd Annual Reunion.
The IMOK chapter agreed to sponsor the
reunion again next year and that the
reunion would be held in Indianapolis,
Indiana in order to make it easier for the
majority of the Association members to
travel there.
Details and dates will be announced at a
later time.
National Reunion for 2010 at Fairborn,
OH:
The reunion sponsors were from the
IMOK chapter and in particular Ed Fowle
and his family, especially Judith Schaefer
his daughter.
In attendance were approximately 100 of
which 36 were veterans.
We had a great time and if the
Indianapolis reunion in 2011 is similar you
must put it on your list of things "not to
miss"
Photographs added to our historical
files:
We were fortunate to receive quite a
number of new photographs while at the
reunion.
These photographs will be posted to the
web site in the appropriate photo section
after processing. As usual they will
appear in the last pages of each section.
63rd Infantry Division Association Flags:
A decision was made at the reunion to
donate all of the 63rd Infantry Division
Association flags to the US Army Infantry
Museum at Fort Benning, Georgia.
All flags, including those on loan from Karin
Froberg-Marzano, will be donated to the
museum within the next couple of weeks.
Mrs Marzano has agreed to the donation
and her flags will be donated in the name of
her father.
Flags to be donated are:
US Army
Seventh Army
63rd Infantry Division(with streamers)
253d Inf Regt (with streamers)
254th Inf Regt (with streamers)
255th Inf Regt (with streamers)
Subscription fees for the Blood and
Fire Publication:
As you know the Blood and Fire publication
is issued three times each year and
contains a world of good information about
the 63rd Infantry Division, individual
members, veterans affairs and details
about the happenings within the association.
The average annual cost to the association
for this publication is approximately $10,000.
Considering the fact that there are only
about 300 members who actually pay dues
each year ($15), while there are
approximately 1200 life members and/or
widows of life members that pay no dues, it
is not hard to see that income from the
dues hardly pays for the publication.
To offset the deficit resulting from the
publication of the Blood and Fire, the Board
of Directors and attending members at the
reunion approved a subscription fee of $15
a year for those wishing to receive the
Blood and Fire publication.
Notice of this change in policy is being
mailed out to all members and depending
on the response it will determine the
number of copies of the Blood and Fire
needed to meet subscription requirements.
Annual Dues reduced:
Based on the approval of an annual
subscription fee for the Blood and Fire, the
Board of Directors and attending members
at the reunion approved a reduction of the
annual membership fee to $10 a year
rather than the current $15 a year.
