Issue Number 6                                     January 2001
All information in this Newsletter is developed by Fred Clinton, Webmaster, 63rd Infantry Division Association and does not necessarily
reflect the views of other individuals and is in no way an Official Publication of the 63rd Infantry Division Association.
Well, we are off on a new year and in a
few days a new President.  I wonder what
the year ahead will bring.

Some new items of interest have been
added to the 63rd Infantry Division Web
Site and they are:

NEW CAMP VAN DORN PHOTOS

Quite a few new photos of Camp Van
Dorn, Mississippi as a follow-up to the
addition last month of the story about the
birth and death of an Army camp- Camp
Van Dorn.  Most of the photos were taken
during the time that the camp was in
operation, so those of you who have never
had an opportunity to see the luxury we
lived in might want to take a look.  There
are also some photos taken at Camp Van
Dorn during the 1981 Association Reunion
in that area.

MEMBERS IN NEED OF
CHEERING UP:

Every now and then I receive a message
from one of our members advising me that
one of our members is not doing so well
physically and/or emotionally.  So I have
decided to include the names and e-mail
addresses of those of us who could use a
little cheering up.  When I include a name
rest assured that I have already sent a card
or e-mail to the individual listed-  So why
not join me.
This issue I would like to list
Cpl Irwin Gold, Antitank Company,
253rd Infantry Regiment.
According to his daughter, Lisa, Irwin is
not doing well at all.  A little support and
encouragement would help.  You can send
your messages to Irwin at the following
e-mail address: lgold@charter.net  or if you
prefer to send a card or note send it c/o
Lisa Gold, 3955 E 3rd Street, Long
Beach, CA 90814.
You'll be glad you did!!

LOOKING FOR SOME ONE??

I recently came across a web site that
might help you in your search for wartime
buddies.  The site address is:
http://www.gisearch.com I intend to include
details relating to this site on our Bulletin
Board Page as soon as I get some more
information from them.  In the meantime,
give it a try and let me know how you
made out.
HISTORICAL QUESTIONNAIRES

There are a number of indivduals and
organizations seeking historical input from
veterans, particularly WWII veterans.
Personal experiences, thoughts, opinions
and whatever comes to mind can be of
value to historians.  Remember once we
are gone, all of those personal thoughts go
with us unless we take the time to
document them now.  Several of our
members, including myself, are in the
process of preparing written record of their
war experiences from the time of induction
until the time of discharge.  Join them and
eliminate the need for children and
grandchildren to only wonder what "You
did during the War Grandpa".  Several
Bulletin Board notices include requests for
this type of information.  To me, the most
beneficial and comprehensive questionnaire
is furnished by the US Army Military
History Institute located in Carlisle
Barracks, Pa.  There questionnaire is
designed to jog your memory on just about
every aspect of your Army experience.
Their address and details of the
questionnaire are included on the Bulletin
Board.

Board Index.

Another good repository for your Army
Memoirs is the George C. Marshall
Foundation located at PO Drawer 1600,
Lexington, VA 24450-1600.  There
telephone number is 540-463-7103.  I will
be entering a Bulletin Board item about the
Foundation in a few days..  I personally
intend to send to them a copy of the
WWII Questionnaire I prepared for the
US Army History Institute.  Might as well
spread that stuff around.
