Issue Number 34                                        March 2004
All information in this Newsletter is developed by Fred Clinton, Webmaster, 63rd Infantry Division  and does not necessarily reflect the
views of other individuals and is in no way an Official Publication of the 63rd Infantry Division or 63rd Infantry Division Association.
I am back after my visit to Florida for the past
5 weeks.  I think I came home just a little too
early, based on the chill still in the air here in
the Washington, D C area.

I am beginning the March Newsletter on 15
March, exactly 59 years to the day that the
63rd Infantry Division assaulted the German
Siegfried Line.  You are familiar with the old
saying that "Time flies when you are having
fun" but it seems that "time flies as you grow
older".  Does that mean we are having fun?

NEW PHOTOGRAPHS:

A number of new photographs have been
added to the photo sections of the web site.
You can access those sections by clicking on
the following :
Miscellaneous Photos- Combat
Photos
and Occupation Photos.

PHOTOGRAPHS FOR THE 63RD
INFANTRY DIVISION HISTORICAL
FILES:

As I have stated over and over again, I am still
seeking photographs of 63rd Infantry Division
personnel in training, combat and occupation
duties to be added to the 63rd Infantry
Division Historial files.

All photos received will be placed on the 63rd
Infantry Division Web Site, on the Pictorial
History of the 63rd Infantry Division CD and
on the History CD of units concerned.

Photos can be sent to me by e-mail as
attachments or by regular mail.  My mailing
address is Fred Clinton 102 S. Jenkins Street,
Alexandria, VA 22304.  Please include captions
for each photo where possible.  All photos
received by regular mail will be processed and
returned to the sender.

In this connection, I have only recently been
told by Anton Jarosik nephew of George
Soper, 63rd Infantry Band, that he has over
100 photos of the Band and 63rd Infantry
Division soldiers in Camp Van Dorn, Combat
and on occupation duties.  His photo collection
includes photos of 63rd Infantry Division
families who were living in the Centreville MS
and surrounding area while we were training.
He is currently scanning those photos and will
send them to me within a few days.  What a
great addtion to our historical files.

REUNIONS

Its not too late to make plans to attend the
National 63rd Infantry Division Association
Reunion to be held in Falls Church, VA during
the period 11-16 August 2004.  The
Philadelphia Chapter of the Association is
hosting the reunion and they have planned a lot
of great acitivities for those in attendance to
include a trip to the National WWII Memorial,
a tour of Washington D C  and visits to the
Korean War, Vietnam War and Lincoln
Memorials.  Go to the
Reunions Page for
details.
ASSOCIATION "RHIN & DANUBE:

The American branch of the Rhin et Danube
Association is making plans to discontinue its
activities due to loss of members.  In fact the
French Association Rhin et Danube is
proposing to discontinue their organization and
expect that their 60th Anniversary recognition
of the liberation of Colmar in Feb 2005 may be
their last official function.

As I receive information about the Colmar
activities I will include it in the newsletter and
on the Web Site Bulletin board.

READ THE BULLETIN BOARD

Have you checked the Bulletin Board lately?  If
not take time to look it over, you might find
that you are on
KP or Guard Duty this
week-end.

NATIONAL WWII MEMORIAL
DEDICATION:

As you know the dedication of the National
WWII Memorial will be held on 29 May 2004
in Washington D C.  While all events relating
to the dedication are free, tickets are required
and it appears that most of the available tickets
have been allocated.

I will attend and have been fortunate enough to
get tickets for the seating area immediately in
front of the stage- that is in the area designated
for the front area of the stage.  Me and 49,998
others will be in that section and we are
assured of seats that will be no further away
from the stage than 200 yards.   I guess I will
make sure to take my binoculars to the
dedication.  It's going to be a wonderful event.
Maybe I'll see some of you there.

MEMBERSHIP IN THE 63RD INFANTRY
DIVISION ASSOCIATION:

While checking a number of the individuals
receiving this Newsletter, I noted that several
who were veterans of the 63rd Infantry
Division are not active members of the 63rd
Infantry Division Association.

Why not rejoin your wartime buddies and
become a part of the 63rd Infantry Division
Association.

Details for joining the Association can be
found on the
Membership page of the web site.
