Issue Number 31                                    October 2003
All information in this Newsletter is developed by Fred Clinton, Webmaster, 63rd Infantry Division  and does not necessarily reflect the
views of other individuals and is in no way an Official Publication of the 63rd Infantry Division or 63rd Infantry Division Association.
Well, here it is almost the end of October-
Winter is fast approaching and Halloween is
just around the corner.  Where does the time go
and why does it have to go so fast?  I bet our
Servicemen and women who are in Iraq are
wishing it would pass so fast and that they
were out of that quagmire.

REUNIONS:
Don't forget to mark your calendars with the
dates of the 56th annual reunion of the 63rd
Infantry Division Association to be held in Falls
Church, VA (Washington DC area) from 11 to

Reunion Page for
details.

NEW PHOTOS ADDED:
Check out the new photos added to the
Pictorial History of the 63rd Infantry Division
in Combat Section
and the Occupation Photos

Don't foget that I am still looking for new
photos and memorabilia images to add to the
Web Site Photo sections and to the Historical
files of the 63rd Infantry Division Association.
So check out those old photo albums and
submit all of your 63rd Infantry Division
photos to me either by e-mail or by regular
mail.  If you send them by regular mail send
them to Fred Clinton 102 S. Jenkins Street,
Alexandria, VA 22304.  After I have scanned
and processed the photos they will be returned
to you.

COMBAT BUSINESS CARDS:
Looking for something to give that veteran or
perhaps a gift for yourself.  Don't forget that I
am offering Combat Business Cards that save a
lot of words when someone asks you what you
did during the "big one".  Go to the following
pages to see samples of cards that can be
produced.
(Combat Business Cards)  The cost
of ten (10) cards is only  $10.00 including
postage.  All funds received will be sent to the
63rd Infantry Division Association treasury.

ARMY FIELD RATIONS

Have you taken the time to check out the Army
Field Ration Section of the web site?  If not go
to
Army Field Rations where you will find a
comprehensive view of what soldiers were
eating in the field during WWII.

If you have already visited that section you
might want to take another look since I have
placed new photographs of the rations and the
P38 can opener on
Page 4 of the Army Field
Ration section.

COMBAT INFANTRYMAN AND
COMBAT MEDICAL BADGES:
Based on our request the Department of the
Army has issued orders awarded the
Combat Infantryman Badge and the
Combat Medic Badge to men of the 254th
Infantry Regiment who were killed in
action.  This singular action did not include
the men from the 253d or 255th Infantry
Regiments because it appears that such
orders were issued by those units when
members of their regiments were KIA.

The order, DA Permanent Order 224-25
dated 12 August 2003 is available to family
members of those men listed on the order.
Just send me a letter or e-mail requesting
the order and I will mail it to you.  This
order can be used to apply for a Bronze
Star Medal Conversion award as outlined
on
Page 2 of the Bulletin Board

If you are a relative of a member of the
253d Infantry Regiment or 255th Infantry
Regiment who was killed in action and
don't know if your relative received the
CIB or CMB please contact me and I will
check our files to see if we have a record
of those awards.

MORNING REPORT PROJECT:

I am happy to report that I have completed
the scanning, processing and recording of
all 63rd Infantry Division unit morning
reports for the combat months.  The last
section of this project was completed just a
few days ago and included all of Division
Artillery, the Engineer Battallion, the
Medical Battalion and all of the Special
Troops units.

I am now in the process of preparing three
(3) new CD's to be made available by the
63rd Infantry Division Association
Historian.  They will be Morning Reports
for Division Artillery, Morning Reports for
Support Battalions (Engr and Med) and
Morning Reports for Special Troops.
These are added to the already available
CD's of Combat Month Morning Reports
for the three regiments.

These new CD's will be priced at $10 each
and will be available from the 63rd Infantry
Division Historian, Bill Scott.  See the
Memorabilia Section for details and his
address.
