In March 1999, after receiving approval to affix another bronze plaque to the Jebsheim, France War Memorial, members of the 254th were contacted by John Burney (A/254) in an effort to raise the necessary funds to pay for the plaque.

Within two(2) months, regimental members had contributed sufficient funds to cover the cost of the plaque and related expenses, plus over $3000.00 which was donated to The Association La Croix du la Moulin for continued maintenance of The Cross of The Jebsheim Mill and to provide funds in preparation of the construction of a Peace Museum on the site of The Cross.

The plaque was taken to Jebsheim, France (All 80lbs of it), by Fred Clinton (D-254) where he was joined by four other members of the regiment. They were, Phil Milano, Angelo Christopher, Bernard Rosen and Quentin Sella.

The unveiling and dedication ceremony was held on 12 June 1999 at the Jebsheim War Memorial. The ceremony was not as elaborate as the 7 Jun 97 ceremony, by request of the regimental participants. It was, nonetheless, appropriate and fitting the men being honored.

The ceremony was conducted by Mr Hugues Peche, President de la Croix du Moulin and Mayor Raymond Haberkorm, mayor of Jebsheim. A number of citizens of Jebsheim were also in attendance. The ceremony was followed by a "Bar-B-Q" held at the village recreational center and hosted by the citizens of Jebsheim.

254th Infantry Regimental Memorial Plaque Jebsheim, France 1999
Bronze Plaque in memory of the sixty-six (66) men of the 254th Infantry Regiment who were killed in action during the Battle of Jebsheim, January 1945.  Placed on the Jebsheim town war memorial - Jun 1999. (Only recently did we discover that Pfc Harry U Valencia included on the plaque was actually Pfc Henry U Valencia.  The Mayor of Jebsheim, France has been informed of this error so that the correct name will be read at any ceremonies held in honor of our comrades killed in Jebsheim)
